How To Join Simply Singing

 

To become a member of Simply Singing, there are several ways for you to join:

4. We rehearse most Wednesdays (NOT every Wednesday) at The Buttercross, Market Place, Brigg.

Afternoons from 1:30pm to 3:00pm AND evenings from 7:30pm to 9:00pm. Pop in and have a chat when we are there.

 

What Is Involved In Joining?

 

Quite simply, Simply Singing is exactly that. The Simply Singing Choir is a group where there are no auditions in order to join. You do not have to be able to read music. All you need is the desire to want to sing for pleasure with others. All lyrics (word sheets) are provided. I can provide the printed music IF you will find it useful. You turn up, join in and sing.

 

The year is split into 3 "terms", each term consists of 3 calendar months. 

In each term , the choir will meet on 10 Wednesdays.

Term 1 - OCT, NOV, DEC

Term 2 - FEB, MARCH, APRIL

Term 3 - MAY, JUNE, JULY

(we do NOT meet in JAN, AUG or SEPT)

 

There are 2 choir session on each Wednesday we meet. 

The afternoon session is from 1:30pm until 3:00pm with a coffee/tea break in the middle (no extra cost)

The evening session is from 7:30pm until 9pm with a coffee/tea break in the middle (no extra cost)

 

We will do a variety of warm ups - some physical (don't worry there's nothing overly taxing), some breathing exercises and some vocal exercises with pitch and rhythm.

You only do what you feel comfortable doing - there really is no pressure. remember you are here to enjoy singing. You put in and take out what is right for you. 

 

Is There A Cost?

 

As with everything in life, there is a cost. I have worked hard to reduce this cost as much as possible and through Pay As You Go, there is a nominal fee for each rehearsal. You only pay for the sessions you attend, HOWEVER you are strongly encouraged to attend each Wednesday the choir meets as we are a community and it is by working and singing together that we develop that wonderful feeling of singing together. 

The current cost per rehearsal is £8

 

What Does The Fee Cover?

 

The fee covers: The cost of hiring the rehearsal venue, teas/coffee/ milk/biscuits (for the break), MD expenses, rehearsal and concert pianist(s), insurances, printing costs, backing tracks (when we use them), website, hiring of venues for concerts.

If you compare Simply Singing to other choirs you will find that most other choirs charge more.

You will be getting value for money - refreshments are included along with the skill and experience of the MD. 

 

Do I Have To Take Part In Public Performances?

 

No. There is no pressure on anyone to take part in anything they do not want to do. Remember Simply Singing is for YOU to come along and enjoy singing. Hopefully as you develop confidence, you may want to take part in public performances, but this is entirely at your own choice.

I will encourage people to take part but it will always be your choice
